Our kitten Max has been exceptionally naughty lately. He's been sneaking onto the table and counter, sleeping on Paul's blanket, and unraveling and shredding so much toilet paper lately that its been suggested that instead of Maximus Prime, his name be changed to Gluteus Maximus.
This morning as I was bathing Taryn, Max sneaked into the bathroom and jumped up onto the side of the tub. His curiosity got the better of him, and he started batting at the tub toys. Needless to say, Max ended up in the tub momentarily before we heard a "Meoowwll!" and a wet, white and gray blur streaked past me out of the bathroom.
Taryn laughed and said, "Max not like baths, just like me!" Then later, as I was fixing my hair Taryn wandered into the bathroom and said, "Mommy, Max is so naughty, but he hates baths! How is he ever going to be baptized? He needs to get baptized!"
I took my role as caregiver to cats very seriously as a child. I remember not only dressing up our cats, but also requesting priesthood blessings for them when they were sick, and holding full-fledged funeral services for them when they died. But still I'm a little leery of my daughter concocting plans to provide saving ordinances for Max...

aw, but he's SO CUTE! ;)
p.s. thanks for popping by and commenting on my photo hunt. I'm very sorry for your losses as well.
Too cute. Just tell her that cats get a free ride into heaven, no baptizm needed =) Although I refuse to believe that my sisters (dead now) evil black cat made it there... he was eeeeevil.
I love how they're so literal in their thinking!
That's funny. I remember dressing our cat up i baby clothes too. The cat thought it was paralized and would just sit there and not more or would crawl on the ground we thought it was so funny...
I love that he fell in the tub! Makes me giggle.
That's too cute - I agree you should tell her that cats get a free pass to heaven!
Hmmm...I think that cats go to a heaven that's all their own. Maybe THIS is heaven for cats.
Well the picture is heavenly, anyway. :D
How funny!
I love kittens and can't wait to get out of apartment life so we can get one.
What a cute story. Our cat fell in the bathtub once also- they sure don't like that!
I'd pay good money to watch that happen, which Elder had the multiple lacerations sewed up at the E/R and the comments from the children on the front row who got to see the fur fly. That would be worth the cost of repairing the font where tiles were ripped off the wall.
hahaha that is an awesome story!! Poor max, the un-baptized cat.... lol
Oh, funny!! I have never heard of a child wanting to baptize their pets!!
That's right-all dogs and cats go to Heaven. :)
Jameson fell in the tub twice as a kitten. Very funny!
Such a cute story - "how will he ever be baptisized?" - so cute. Hope you had a good weekend Jen - see you soon. Kellan
Funny girl. We've given pets blessings in our home and I'm sure Heavenly Father has listened and answered! Still, like you, I don't know about baptisms, lol!
awww. . . he's a cute little guy!
"Meoooowll!" <----LOL
HE IS SOOOOOOOO CUTE! I just wanna LOVE him and cuddle him! Your daughter sounds so cute, and so thoughtful for her age!
Our cat, Sneeze, always hangs out at bath time and he's fallen in more than once. He's 1.5 years old and you'd think he'd learn...
I'm amazed that your daughter doesn't like baths. My toddler torments me following me around the house several times a day saying, "I want bath."
Jenna-methinks the maiden doth protest too much. She hates to get in, but once she's there its a beast trying to get her out.
I can't believe the cat got out without shredding bathing child! Maybe a baptism could help with the naughty soul.
he is so cute!!
My cat accidently jumped into the toilet bowl once... you never saw a cat go so far without touching the ground!
Thanks for stopping by :-)
It is so cute that Taryn wants Max to be baptized! Kids say the cutest things. By the way, thanks for stopping by my blog. It's always nice to meet someone new :)
Very cute! Love your little kitty! I had a cat who actually liked the water...she would sit on the edge of the pool for hours and hours each and every day.
Tell her you'll just put him outside in the rain one day. Or, you can just wait and see if his behavoir improves after falling in the tub. That could have been his sneak attack baptism.
That was a hilarious story. That'll teach him...maybe!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I'll definitely be back to read more and maybe dig into your archives.
Jen, that is so sweet! Your daughter understands how important baptism is at such a young age. You're definitely teaching her right.
oh my goodness ... taryn is so cute, worying about the salvation of max's soul!!!
That's funny! Glad my boys never thought of that with my Mom's cat - they locked her in a cooler, tried to pin her to the bed, etc. I would be worried they wouldn't let the cat up to breathe! They did grow out of that stage.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. You have so many blogs I didn't know which one to comment on. :)
Aww! That is so cute! Don't they just look like little angels when they are sleeping? Our poor cat is bathed, brushed, dressed up, and carried around like a little baby doll. At least he doesn't seem to care much... :D
The relationship of a child and her pet is so special. I love it. My husband didn't like cats until he saw how much our boys loved our cats. Now dh takes better care of them than I do.
We too had a funeral last year for one of our cats. Complete with flowers, the neighbors, cousins and grandparents and even a few works spoken at the grave. The more I read about your kids the more I'm convinced our kids would get along so well.
BTW I just noticed that you had the Glass Castle as one of your favorite books. I really enjoyed that book too. It really made me think differently about the world, people and society.
How funny!
